One of my great grandmother's family's history is very well documented. I have gone back as far Ramses I! How can I link all the existing info to my tree. There's no way that I can manually add information dating that far back and spanning so many different families. I read somewhere that I have to get gedcom files from the tree owners whose info i want to include in my tree. Is that right? That too seems crazy since I'd have to ask lots of people for their files. Thanks for any advice. Susana

Hi Susana,

There is an experimental feature called "liens inter-arbres" which allows you to connect your tree to another tree. Of course you will not be able to modify the information in the other tree. You can request to activate this feature in French at the link below. Maybe Jean-Yves can give us a link in English.

I highly doubt that a tree going back to Ramses is "well documented". Most trees going before the middle ages contain completely fabricated generations to connect branches that are properly documented. I personally would not want to attach my tree to one of those, even if it links me directly to royalty.

Dears, I just used "Family tree interlinks" which works perfectly well and is a very nice feature.
But one last thing I still miss is the ability to export that part of the tree as part of the GEDCOM file.

Indeed, if I'm fine with this tree, it'd be perfectly logical to include it in the export. (Could even be an option, like "Include linked trees").
I don't see any workaround (especially since I can't export other's tree in GEDCOM format) but it'd be a non-sense to duplicate dozens of ancestries just for the sake of having them in the GEDCOM.

Could you consider adding that export option (and ideally, also suggest some workarounds in the meantime)?
Thank you!

You must contact the member who has published the family tree to ask for the export of a branch. Click the button "Contact" at the bottom of any page of the family tree.
Best wishes,
